NewsAutumn Costume Ball in Sholokhov-Centre02.11.2016On November 5, a costume ball “From under the Mysterious Cold Half-Mask…” will take place in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, in Rostov-on-Don, within the framework of the All-Russian campaign “Night of Arts”. The epigraph for the exhibition is taken from the lines of the drama “Masquerade” by M.Y.Lermontov: “Behind the mask all ranks are equal. A mask has no soul, no title, but a body. And if the mask conceals the features, then the feelings are bravely got unmasked…” On these days Sholokhov-Centre demonstrates the exhibition “I was Happy Here…”M.Y.Lermontov. Life and Work” presented by six Lermontov museums of Russia. The guests will see unique exhibits and get into the atmosphere of the time of the great poet. The costume ball is dedicated to the Year of Russian Cinema and the 110th anniversary of S.A.Gerasimov, a film director, actor, screenwriter, the National Actor of the USSR, who made a feature film “Masquerade” in 1941. During the ball, fragments of the film will be demonstrated. The guests will take part in dramatization of the ball-masquerade. They will dance polonaise, country dance, polka, cotillion, quadrille and waltz. During the breaks they can play ballroom games of burime, forfeits and ballroom mail, which were traditional for the first half of the XIX century. Entrance by invitation cards. Irina Pashkova |
