“The World of Sholokhov” in China

A ceremony of opening the photo exhibition “The World of Sholokhov” presented by the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve will take place on 19 October, 2016, in the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing (China).

The project is aimed at providing an opportunity for Chinese visitors to get into the broad, bright and passionate world of Sholokhov’s heroes. The exhibition tells about the life and work of the writer, about the beauty of the Don country, and about the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, a unique complex of memorial structures and protected sites.

“Tales from the Don”, “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “They Fought for Their Country”, “The Fate of a Man”… One can’t be left indifferent reading the living lines of these books, they open the Don country and wonderful people living there to each reader and to the whole world.

The Russian Cultural Centre in China started from 1989 in close cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation. This is the first humanitarian institution opened in the territory of the Chinese People’s Republic by the Government of the Russian Federation. Its activity is provided by the Federal Agency for the issues of the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad and for the international humanitarian cooperation.

The activity of the centre is aimed at spreading the achievements of Russia in different spheres, its spiritual heritage, rich scientific and cultural potential among the Chinese public, and assistance in extending bilateral cultural, educational, scientific, technical, business contacts and support of the Russian language.

The exhibition “The World of Sholokhov” will run until October 27, 2016.
