“Poetry in Colours” in Sholokhov Centre

13.10.2016

The exhibition “I was Happy Here…” M.Y.Lermontov.Life and Work” shown in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov is joined with an interactive class “Poetry in Colours”, where the visitors draw pictures using ebru technique.

Ebru is an ancient art originated from the East. Sometimes it is called drawing on water, as the picture made with paints on the water surface is then transferred on to a sheet of paper.

The technique of drawing on water is told about during the presentation accompanying the class, and Lermontov’s poetry about nature and the native land, and the landscapes shown on the screen give inspiration.

Lermontov’s masterpieces become animated on the water: There appears “a lonely sail in the blue sea mist”, “snows and distant ice floes of the cliffs”, which “shone in the rays of the rising sun so beautifully”, wonderful “fields of the native land”, the moon, that “shines through the willows over a pond”, “chains of blue mountains”…

The poetry impressed in colours leaves a bright mark in the souls of the artists, the members of the class.
