Autumn Environmental Week in Sholokhov Museum

22.09.2016

On October 12–15, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will hold a cycle of environmental activities for schoolchildren from the Rostov, Volgograd and Voronezh regions. A relay-quiz “Forest Tier”, competition “Forest Decathlon”, “Arbor Day” and the promotion activity “I Grow Together with You” will enable children to deepen their environmental knowledge and feel responsibility for living nature.

In the relay-quiz “Forest Tier”, the first stage of which was held on 11 April in Novocherkassk with participation of the Novocherkassk A.K.Kortunov Engineering and Reclamation Institute, the winners will compete with beginners – young ecologists from 17 districts of the Rostov, Volgograd and Voronezh regions. They will be to determine components of forest stands, their average height, age, diameter, composition and supply, types of herbaceous and woody vegetation and mechanical composition of soils.

In the competition “Forest Decathlon” the children will demonstrate their theoretical knowledge in botany, zoology and ecology, then they will consolidate the knowledge into practice of planting seedlings of trees and shrubs in the forest area “Forest Pearl of Eurasia” on Arbor Day. Little participants of the autumn environmental week will be able to plant their personal trees during the promotion activity “I Grow Together with You”.

The winners and laureates of the relay-quiz “Forest Tier” and the competition “Forest Decathlon” will be awarded Diplomas of the I–III degrees, keepsakes and personal certificates entitling them to a preferential admission to the Novocherkassk A.K.Kortunov Engineering and Reclamation Institute.

All the teams will be marked with letters of thanks.
