Conference “Preservation of Cultural Traditions of the Peoples of Russia”

The department staff of the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov took part in the scientific and practical conference “Preservation of Cultural Traditions of the Peoples of Russia” held on September 23–24, 2016, in the Starocherkassk Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.
The conference was opened by N.V.Shikhalyova, Director of the Starocherkassk Museum-Reserve. The conference members were greeted by A.A.Rezvanov, Minister of Culture of the Rostov Region, and E.V. Galitsyn, Head of the rural settlement of Stanitsa Starocherkasskaya. The conference was joined by the Starocherkassk Museum-Reserve, the Arkhangelsk State Museum of Wooden Architecture and Folk Art “Malye Korely”, State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographical Museum-Reserve of “Kizhi”, teachers from Rostov-on-Don and Leningrad Region.
Within the frames of the cultural program, the participants attended a presentation of the book “Starocherkassk Museum-Reserve.Milestones in the History”, visited the exhibition ” Linen Russia” which showed traditional costumes of the peoples of Russia from the collection of S.A.Glebushkin, member of the Public Council at the State Russian House of Folk Art, member of the Union of Artists of Russia and a member of the International Federation of Artists, a collector and propagandist of the Russian folk costume. The program was ended with a concert of the folk and ethnographical group of the Arkhangelsk Museum of Wooden Architecture and Folk Art “Malye Korely”.
On September 24, the conference participants attended the Ascension Army Patriarchal Cathedral – an Orthodox Church in Novocherkassk, the main church of the Don Cossacks. Then they took part in the regional festival of ceremonial Cossack culture “Our Forefathers were Cossacks”, in the interactive tour “Traditions of the Don Hospitality”, attended the exhibitions of the Novocherkassk Museum of the Don Cossack History.
