The First Visitors of Cinematograph “Ideal” will See the Exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema”

27.09.2016

“Cinematograph “Ideal” built early in the XX century will open its doors for visitors on October 9, in Stanitsa Karghinskaya, at the literary and ethnographical holiday “Karghin Fair on Pokrov Days”. The cinema house will give a run of the exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema” dedicated to the Year of Russian Cinema.

There are 19 screen versions made on the works of M.A.Sholokhov. Each of them has made its mark in the history of cinema and in the hearts of the viewers; many of the films entered into “the golden fund” of Russian cinema, they are known, seen and loved.

The exhibition will tell about filming the novels “The Quiet Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned” by M.A.Sholokhov and about the films based on the writer’s early works. Besides, the visitors will learn about the history of the films after Sholokhov’s books devoted to the Great Patriotic War.

In the section telling about the first filming of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” in 1930, one can see a film projector “Magic Lantern”, a unique exhibit, made in 1910 by Ernemann Company (Germany).

In the centre of the hall there is a film projector from Vyoshensky Palace of Culture, where in 1975, a premiere of the film “They Fought for Their Country” was shown, which event was visited by M.A.Sholokhov. The picture made by the film director S.Bondarchuk was recognized “the best film of the year” and was nominated for the main prize at the Cannes Film Festival “Golden Palm” and gained a number of awards at the international film festivals.

A poster stand, benches by the Palace of Culture, a queue to the cinema box office and the cash desk itself will help to feel the atmosphere of the past years. In a stylized cinema hall with a film projector and rows of seats, the white screen will show the audience fragments of feature films and documentaries taking the viewers back into the history of Russian cinema and giving them an opportunity to feel the mood of the audience of different times.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov welcomes you to the exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema” which will run in Stanitsa Karghinskaya on October 9, Fair day.
