“The Anthem of Russia” Sounds in Vyoshenskaya

19.09.2016

An interactive exhibition “The Anthem of Russia” was opened in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. It aroused a great interest of the visitors.

The exhibition presented by the All-Russian M.I.Glinka Museum Association of Musical Culture under the support of the RF Ministry of Culture, RF Ministry of Defence, Heraldic Council under the President of the RF and the Russian Military Historical Society tells about the history of the State Anthem of the Russian Federation and its predecessors – the anthems of our country from the XVI century up to now.

A fascinating unguided journey through time began just in the hall of the People’s House. There are installed information kiosks providing the visitors with the texts and audio records of the anthems of Russia at different times, illustrations and stories about the exhibits. While learning the most interesting facts the visitors got into the history of the country. To the sounds of the anthem they went upstairs to the exhibition halls. There, modern multimedia, rare historical documents and authentic items from the collections of the leading museums and archives of the country are combined in one exhibition space.

The exhibition displays the Icon of Christ Pantocrator of the XVII century, a theatrical costume of Fyodor Shalyapin for the scene of coronation of Boris Godunov, musical instruments of the time of Peter I, a chamber wind instrument band chosen by Pavel I for the anthem performance, two French horns, two clarinets and a bassoon, personal belongings of A.F.Lvov, the author of the music for the anthem “God, Save the Tsar!”, autographs of composers and poets, who took part in the contest for creation the Anthem of the Soviet Union in 1943, and many other interesting exhibits.

The narration of the virtual guide about the history of the anthems was accompanied by the unique newsreels; old marches and solemn melodies of different times (“Preobrazhensky Regiment March”, “The Thunder of Victory, Go!”, the anthems “God, Save the Tsar!”, “Marseillaise”, “The Internationale”, the Anthem of the USSR and the Anthem of Russia) were heard.

In culmination of the exhibition the State Anthem of the Russian Federation was performed by a big virtual chorus for each of the visitors to be able to join. The members of the exhibition opening ceremony sang the anthem together with

the authors of the exhibition project – S.V.Yesipov (the Russian Military Historical Society), L.I.Nikitina (the Moscow State S.G.Stroganov Art and Industry Academy), A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, and the workers of the All-Russian M.I.Glinka Museum Association of Musical Culture.

The exhibition awarded by the international festival “Intermuseum” as the best patriotic project of the Year of Culture has already been demonstrated in the four federal territories of Russia, and everywhere it was a great success. The residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya can take part in the wonderful interactive class of history and music, which amazes and embraces all those present in the hall and can sing the Anthem of Russia together with the millions of compatriots.

The exhibition “The Anthem of Russia” will have a run at the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov until December 4, 2016.
