On the First Visit to the Crimea

The Crimean Ethnographical Museum opens an exhibition “The Word and Glory of Russia” from the collection of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. The exhibition is devoted to the historical development of the Don Cossacks who made glory of Russia, and by the word of Sholokhov it has become the word of Russia.

The visitors will see clothes of Cossack men and women, the equipment required for the Cossack joining military service, household utensils and tools typical of that time. The life and work of M.A.Sholokhov are shown by the exhibition to be unbreakably linked with the history of his country and people through documents, photographs, books and memoria.

One of the exhibition sections shows sketches of costumes for the opera “The Quiet Don” of the Gorky Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S.Pushkin of 1935, and tells about the latest screen version of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” made in 2015 by the film director S.V.Ursulyak. The visitors will see the costumes of the film heroes presented to the Museum-Reserve by the film crew.

The exhibition will run from August 5, till October 6, 2016.
