NewsRostov Schoolchildren in Sholokhov Museum04.07.2016From June 27, to July 1, the students of Gymnasium 118 of Rostov-on-Don had a visiting summer educational practice “Vyoshki-2016”. The Practice Program was informative and very interesting: visiting exhibitions, museum interactive classes and tours. On the first day the young rostovites visited the exhibition “The Fate of a Man is the Fate of People” from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. It was displayed in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House” to mark the 60th anniversary of the first publication of the story “The Fate of a Man” and the Year of Russian Cinema. A bright moment for the children was the film “Pages of the Story” (Mosfilm, 1975) made by the film directors B.Kryzhanovsky and M.Tireshchenko soon after the story was published. The roles of the narrator and Andrey Sokolov are performed by Sergei Bondarchuk. Then the children joined the interactive class “Ancient Yepifan Fortress” based on the materials of the exhibition “The Sovereign’s Guards” from the collection of the Military Historical and Natural Museum-Reserve “Kulikovo Pole”. The practice members toured about Kruzhilin Village, Stanitsa Karghinskaya, the shooting site of the fourth filming of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov (the film director Sergei Ursulyak) in Stanitsa Yelanskaya and the Stables in Vyoshenskaya. The students worked as guides at the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov, literary exhibition “The Time and Destiny” and in the Old House of the writer. The children showed good knowledge of the material. In the Children Museum Centre they took part in the interactive game “We Build a Cossack Farmstead”. Here the schoolchildren assembled layouts of a kuren (a Cossack house), a stove, a well, they learned to draw patterned sandriks and made mats of waste material. In the department of arts and crafts the young rostovites attended the master-classes “Pottery Workshop”, “Basket Weaving” and “Tableware Painting”. The summer educational practice “Vyoshki-2016” was ended with a conference, where the students presented their creative talks on the works by M.A.Sholokhov and on the life culture of the Upper Don Cossacks and showed their contest photo works. Finally, a vocal group “Lastochki” performed a song about their native city Rostov-on-Don. Leaving Sholokhov country the children were full of bright impressions and creative prospects.
