Summer Holidays in Sholokhov-Centre

02.06.2016

On June 15, in Rostov-on-Don, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov opens an interactive project for children “Summer Holidays in Sholokhov Centre”.

The project includes a cycle of museum classes taking place within three days for children groups (over 10 persons).

On the first day the children will attend the exhibition “A Find on the Edge of the Earth”, where they will see the world-known exhibit, a little mammoth Lyuba, bones and teeth of adult mammoths, skulls of a primitive bison and musk ox, a chum –a traditional dwelling of the Northern people,– sledges, shaman’s attributes and many other things.

A virtual travelling to the Yamal peninsula, where Lyuba came from, will continue at the interactive lesson “A Window to Winter”. The children will play games of Northern peoples, stroke the Polar “animal”, draw a winter landscape and having mastered the drawing technique of “grisaille” (white and black drawing) will make an applique. The class will help the young artists to arouse creative imagination and fantasy.

On the next day a master-class on patchwork ceramics will be held to show the children the basics of pottery, one of the world most ancient crafts. The children will learn about the history of pottery development in the Don area, about different techniques of making useful and beautiful articles from a video film, and then they will learn to recognize clay “blindly” among other natural materials and will make candlesticks of clay. The lesson will help to develop in children a sensory perception of objects and introduce them different forms and qualities of materials.

The third day will be devoted to the classes in the “Artistic Workshop”, where the children will learn about traditional techniques of painting clay toys and other articles and will paint a clay candlestick made by them at the previous master-class.

We invite little rostovites and guests of the city to take part in the interactive project “Summer Holidays in Sholokhov-Centre”.

You are welcome to: 125/69, Bolshaya Sadovaya, Rostov-on-Don. Registration for the classes: tel. +7 (863)210-90-14, 210-90-17; e-mail: rostov@sholokhov.ru
