“Sholokhov-Centre” Meets a Little Mammoth Lyuba

On June 14, the exhibition “A Find on the Edge of the Earth” will open in Rostov-on-Don, “Sholokhov-Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The central place in the exhibition will be taken by little mammoth Lyuba, a model of the world-known exhibit.

The exhibition will display about 200 items from the archaeological, ethnographical and natural scientific collections of the Yamalo-Nenets District Museum and Exhibition Complex named after I.S.Shemanovsky. Among them there are shaman’s attributes, national clothes and decorations, bones and teeth of mammoths, skulls of primitive bison and musk ox, objects from the excavations of the sacrificial place Ust-Poluy, of the settlements of Ust-Voikarsky and Mangazey, and many other things.

Rostovites and guests of the city will learn about the rich history of the Arctic region traditions and customs of the autochthonous population of the district, about flora and fauna typical for Yamal in the past and in the present.

The visitors will take part in the interactive games and classes, will see animation and science fiction films.

The exhibition “A Find on the Edge of the Earth” from the collection of the Yamalo-Nenets Regional Museum and Exhibition Complex named after I.S.Shemanovsky will run until September 18, 2016, in “Sholokhov-Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in: 125/69 Bolshaya Sadovaya Str., Rostov-on-Don.
