Sholokhov Museum is the Winner of the International Project

This year the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the International project “Ecological Culture. Peace and Harmony” and is recognized the winner in the nomination “Biodiversity Conservation and Improvement of Landscapes”.

The international project “Ecological Culture. Peace and Harmony” established in 2012 by the environmental non-governmental V.I.Vernadsky foundation, the international environmental NGO “Greenlife”, the interregional environmental NGO “Greenlife” supported by the State Duma and Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation identifies and promotes the projects, designs and ideas of practical use in the formation and development of the environmental awareness of the population of the Russian Federation.

The project “Forest Pearl of Eurasia” presented by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov is purposed for preservation and restoration of the natural biodiversity, replenishment of the Upper Don flora and fauna by creating a unique forest stand which has no analogue in any region of the Russian Federation.

The creation of the forest stand is actively participated by the teams of the children and youth environmental movement “Sholokhov Source”, members of the conferences (“Museum-Reserve: Environment and Culture”, “Sholokhov Readings”, “Sholokhov Geography: from the Sources to the Nobel Triumph”), delegations from different regions, territories, republics of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, guests and residents of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The awarding ceremony will take place on June 5, Day of Ecologist and the World Environmental Day, in Moscow, in the central M.Gorky park of culture and recreation. It will be joined by T.Y.Turchin, Deputy Director for Environment and Rational Land Use, and S.A.Sivtsov, head of the Department for Memorial Landscape Preservation and environment monitoring. The Day of Ecologist will be marked by holding seminars, master-classes and competitions.

The victory in the project “Ecological Culture. Peace and Harmony” is not the only achievement of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in the field of environment. The most successful was 2009, when the Museum became the laureate of the First Degree National Award “EcoWorld” and the winner of the National Environmental Award in the nomination “Environmental Awareness”.

In 2010, presenting the Rostov Region the Museum won in the All-Russian contest “Business Glory of Russia”, in 2014 it gained the II place in the regional stage of the National contest “Natural Heritage of the Nation” and became the finalist of the National award “Crystal Compass” with the project “Museum-Reserve as an Institute of Environmental Education and Public Awareness”.

During the eight years of annual participation in different contests for national and international awards in the field of environment, preservation and spreading the natural, historical and cultural heritage of Russia the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov prepared over 15 projects, a number of which were marked with diplomas and certificates.
