NewsLights and Songs over the Don30.05.2016In the evening of May 28, the members and guests of the literary and folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” came to the bank of the River Don, where a long-expected gala concert “On the Quiet Don” began on the floating stage. I.A.Guskov, the First Deputy Head of the Rostov Region Administration, greeting the audience noted that the holiday “Sholokhov Spring” had been celebrated for the 31st time, and during these years it has gathered 4.5 thousand groups and soloists, and more than 700 thousand visitors. The influence of Sholokhov on all kinds of art including cinema, theatre, and music is enormous. The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve gains the world popularity which is a great merit of the writer’s children and relatives. “Today in the Don country there is an Open Air Novel which we “read again” altogether – the museum workers and its visitors”,–underlined I.A.Guskov. The concert began with a joint performance of the two Upper Don groups –“Pravoslavny Don” (Stanitsa Bokovskaya) and “Donskoye Siyaniye” (Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya), and were followed by the groups from Rostov-on-Don and Azov. Then the floor was given to A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. He stressed that the work of M.A.Sholokhov in the struggle for real literature is perceived now as a banner. “We are successors of the best traditions, of these really spiritual treasures, which will gather us together for centuries!” These words were supported by the applause of the audience. The numerous public was shown the performance by the groups and soloists from Lugansk, Astrakhan, Rostov regions and from Kalmykia. The concert entertained the public with a bright program and was ended with a powerful firework. Down the River Don glorified by Mikhail Sholokhov there were floating 111 small boats with candles symbolizing the years from the date of the great writer’s birth. Alexey Kochetov |
