The Exhibition Dear to Cossack Soul

29.05.2016

The exhibition “The Sovereign’s Guards” which was opened on May 28, on the holiday of “Sholokhov Spring” in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “People’s House” aroused a great interest in the visitors.

The exhibition displays the materials from the collections of the State Museum-Reserve of War History and Nature “Kulikovo Pole”. It tells about the peculiarities of performing the service duty at the early stage of the Cossacks of Russia, about foundation of Yepifan fortress in the XVI–XVII centuries. It was one of the first Cossack borders of the Tula Region which played an important role in defending the Russian border against the attacks of the Crimean and Nogai Tatars.

The visitors were shown authentic items of military equipment, horse harness, tools and household utensils, which keep memory of their owners and convey the spirit of the old fortress of Yepifan.

Comparing the peculiarities of performing the service duties and everyday life of the Cossack population of the Tula Region and the Don Army Region, the guests of the holiday “Sholokhov Spring” noted the similarities and differences, spoke about the feeling of pride aroused by Cossack courage and readiness to defend the borders of the Country.

“We thank you for the opportunity to learn about the unique sight, the fortress of Yepifan, which is dear to the soul of the Don Cossack”, – such was the entry in the Guest-Book made by the guests from Rostov-on-Don. The journalists of radio channel “Avantazh” (the Volgograd Region), who prepared a report about the holiday, and other visitors also expressed their gratitude.

You are welcome to the unique exhibition which will run till September 4, 2016.
