Presentation of the Poetic Almanac

On the days of “Sholokhov Spring” meetings with writers and poets are held traditionally. This time presentations of the seventh almanac “Verkhny Don” and meetings with its authors were held in the Central Library of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and in Kruzhilin Village, the parental estate of M.A.Sholokhov.

The almanac includes the works of the poets from the Rostov and Volgograd regions. At the meeting in Vyoshenskaya the authors of the new edition shared their impressions about the holiday and spoke about the place taken by the work of M.A.Sholokhov in their life.

At the beginning, the leader of the meeting G.Rychnev, chairman of the almanac editorial board, gave the floor to I.Garanin, a resident of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, who told about his meetings with the writer. Then, the amateur men of letters from Vyoshenskaya, Uryupinsk, Serafimovich, Surovikino, Kazanskaya and Shumilinskaya recited poetry, exchanged their opinions about preservation of Cossack traditions in the Don land and marked that the contribution of Sholokhov into this important matter was enormous.

The guests excitedly and emotionally talked about the state of the literary affairs in the Upper Don. And they were inexhaustibly generous sharing their poetry with the audience.

The release dates of the next almanac issue have already been planned, and the speakers thanked “Shumilinskoye” Ltd. for the financial assistance in its preparation.
