“Family Sundays” in Sholokhov-Centre

16.05.2016

Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov continues its project “Family Sundays” developed jointly with the Committee for Youth Policy of the Rostov Region and the Don State Public Library. On May 15, Family Day, a new program started.

Families from Rostov-on-Don, Krasny Sulin and Stanitsa Bagayevskaya celebrated a family holiday in Sholokhov-Centre. The children and adults with pleasure attended the exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema”, learned about filming of the works by the great writer, the history of making films “The Quiet Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “The Shame Child”, “They Fought for Their Country”, “The Fate of a Man” “visited” the reconstructed cinema hall of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya of 1963, where the premiere of the film “When Cossacks Cry” took place. A great attraction was a rarity of cinema technique, filming props, costumes, cinema billboards, director’s film scripts, items of the time of the Civil War and collectivization.

The excursion was followed by the master-class “Patchwork Ceramics” on making a candlestick of clay. Each family has its own ideas and creative approach, so each family has got an original souvenir of an unusual form made by them.

In the “Literary Cafe” the librarians from the Don State Public Library told about new books for children and adults and treated the guests with the Don herb tea with honey and bakery. For the cinema desert the children watched kind Soviet cartoons “Absentminded” and “Tsvetik-Semitsvetik”.
