13.05.2016

The XVIII International museum festival “Intermuseum” began its work in the central exhibition hall “Manezh” in Moscow on May 13, to run till May 16.The theme of the festival “Boundless Museum” is purposed for attracting attention to the museum as the main part of the intercultural dialogue and to its social mission.

The members and guests were welcomed by Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture. “A festival is not a traditional exhibition, it is a place, where lots of events take place. It is a unique ground, where the leaders of the major world museums and small regional ones can communicate”, – said the minister of culture.

The “Intermuseum” festival has become one of the main events in the museum calendar of Russia. For many years it has been serving for the professional development of the museum business and has been forming the idea of new modern museum trends, practices and technologies in the work. The general organizer is the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The large-scale project is realized by the exhibition centre “ROSIZO” under the support and assistance of the Russian Committee of the International Museum Council (ICOM of Russia) and the Union of Museums of Russia.

At the festival opening ceremony the Office of the Federal Customs Service handed over the cultural valuables to the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.

Over 300 museums from Russia and foreign countries present their sections at the festival. The foreign participants came from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Tajikistan, China, Iran, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, and special guests are the museums from the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. The four-day program includes over 150 activities for professionals.

The festival is free admitted. Everyone can take part in the creative meetings, master-classes, competitions and games. The program for children is rich and diverse. For the widest audience the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov holds presentations of its projects and master-classes at section Б1.

In one of the master-classes the museum workers will tell how a Cossack is being prepared for the State military service, what equipment a soldier requires, what techniques horsemen use in fighting and will demonstrate on a full-size horse model a swift fancy riding and the art of arms wielding. All the volunteers can try themselves in the role of a brave horseman and be photographed on horseback of a Cossack steed.

The second master-class “A Day at a Cossack Gymnasium.Write with a Pen Beautifully” will take children and adults to the early XX century, to the lesson of calligraphy. The guests will try to write with an old pen following the old samples of writing.

Sholokhov Museum invites all the members and guests of the “Intermuseum” festival to attend section Б1.
