Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov on May Holidays

On May holidays the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov was overcrowded. The most attraction was the literary and ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”, which had a successful run at the Stables on May 8.

Among the guests there was Gennady Vasilyevich Shatalov, the founder of the National Prize in the field of event tourism “Russian Event Awards”, where the projects of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov won the victory: the holiday “Kruzhilin Toloki” won the Grand Prix in the nomination “The Best Event in Spreading Folk Traditions and Crafts” and “Sholokhov Spring” rated first in the nomination “The Best Event in Culture”; and Oleg Anatolyevich Kolesnikov, a branch manager of the Federal Office “Redaktsiya Rossiyskoy Gazety” of the central district.

The holiday made a lasting impression on the guests. Of particular interest was the show of a racing, Cossack drift, fancy riding, wielding a sword and a lance, and the main techniques of the martial arts Cossacks used in battles.

On the next day, May 9, the Day of the Great Victory, the guests took part in a holiday parade. They joined the campaign of “Immortal Regiment” carrying the portraits of their grandparents, veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Then they visited Kruzhilin Village and Stanitsa Karghinskaya, where they went on interesting excursions about the Museum exhibitions and got into the atmosphere of a Cossack everyday life.

G.V.Shatalov stressed: “The importance of the event tourism giving an impetus for the development of home tourism and, in particular, the territory promotion, is very well comprehended now in all the cities and settlements of Russia. It is namely the events that attract tourists to the territories.”
