“Family Sundays” in Sholokhov-Centre

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov welcomes to the excursion and educational event “Family Sundays”, which will take place in Sholokhov-Centre on May 15, 22 and 29.

The program goes:

- visiting the exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema”;

- master-class “Patchwork Ceramics”;

- having tea in the “Literary Cafe”;

- children’s cinema area.

The exhibition “Sholokhov’s Personages in Cinema” will tell about filming the works of the great writer, the history of making films “The Quiet Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “The Shame Child”, “They Fought for Their Country”, “The Fate of a Man”, will show a rare cinema technique, will show the documents telling about Sholokhov’s personages in cinema, the correspondence of M.A.Sholokhov with the cinematographers S.F.Bondarchuk, S.A.Gerasimov and A.Y.Vitol, and the directors’ film scripts. The exhibition displays filming props, costumes, objects of the time of the Civil War and collectivization, and cinema billboards. In the recreated cinema hall of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, where in 1963, the premiere of the film “When Cossacks Cry” took place, you will feel the mood of the viewers with M.A.Sholokhov among them. The combination of modern technologies and exhibit rarities will enable you to learn more about the world of cinematograph and about the significance of the work by M.A.Sholokhov for the cinema art.

The excursion about the exhibition will be followed by master-classes. In the class of “Patchwork Ceramics” you will learn the basics of ancient crafts of clay modeling and you will make candlesticks, which will be fine presents for your relatives and friends.

In the “Literary Cafe” the librarians from the Don State Public Library will hold a presentation of new books, and for children a cinema area will work.

All the guests will be entertained with the Don herb tea with honey and cookies.

The meeting begins at 10.00. The ticket price is 200–350 Rub (depending on the number of family members).
