Sholokhov’s Heroes in Cinema

29.04.2016

A large-scale exhibition project “Sholokhov’s Heroes in Cinema” began its run in “Sholokhov Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

Welcoming the guests A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, stressed the importance of the exhibition which opens in the Year of Russian Cinema and in anticipation of the 111th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov. 19 screen versions have been made after the works of the writer, and each of them has left its mark in the history of cinema and in the hearts of the viewers. The exhibition presents only some of the films, which entered “the golden fund” of the home cinema.

Alexander Rezvanov, Minister of Culture of the Rostov Region, greeted the organizers and visitors on the opening the unique exhibition and noted that “the name of Sholokhov and his literary heritage make the Don country distinguished in the Russian and world cultural environment”. It is not by chance, that masters of arts so often turn to the work of the great writer.

The guests with great interest viewed the exhibits, “stood in a queue” to the makeshift box-office and took their seats in the cinema of Vyoshensky, where in 1963, the premiere of the film “When Cossacks Cry” (the film director Y.Morgunov) took place.

The exhibition project organizers have managed to create an atmosphere for each of the guests to be able to “visit” the shooting sites of “The Quiet Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “The Fate of a Man”, “They Fought for Their Country” and get to know interesting facts about the history of creation the films, about the fate of the film directors and actors. The monitor screens will show feature films after the writer’s works, fragments of the documentaries about the filming process.

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve welcomes all the residents and guests of Rostov-on-Don to visit the exhibition halls of “Sholokhov Centre” and enter the magical world of cinema.

The exhibition runs until June 6, 2016, in: 125/69 Bolshaya Sadovaya, Rostov-on-Don, from 10.00 to 17.00 (on Wednesday from 10.00 to 19.00), no days off.
