Join the Museum Events!

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov welcomes you to join the events taking place in the home country of the great writer. Being the centre of cultural development, education, spiritual life and creative dialogue the Museum offers the programs for children and adults. Very soon, on May 8, a literary and ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” (Cossack martial art of Vyoshenskaya) dedicated to the Great Victory and the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov will be held. You will see exciting racing, horse jumping, fancy riding and fighting techniques Cossack used in battles. You can join master-classes, competitions, horse riding, photo taking, buying souvenirs, tasting field porridge, and many other interesting things.

May 27–29, is the All-Russian literary and folklore holiday “Sholokhov Spring” dedicated to the anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov. This holiday is the winner of the National Award in the field of event tourism in the nomination “The Best Event in Culture”.

The literary and ethnographic holiday “Kruzhilin Toloki” will take place on September 4. This event gained Grand-Prix in the nomination “The Best Event in Spreading the Folk Arts and Crafts” of the National Award in the field of event tourism. Each visitor can take part in agricultural and field works the Cossacks used to do in their farmsteads.

On October 9, you are welcome to the literary and ethnographic holiday “Karghin Fair on Pokrov Days”. There you will enjoy scenes of merry fair after the works by M.A.Sholokhov, a puppet show, strongmen competition and other interesting things from the holiday program, which will be shown at the famous old mill of Timofey Karghin depicted in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.
