Welcome to the Holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”!

On My 8, at 9.30, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov welcomes the guests to the Stables for the literary and ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” (Cossack martial arts of Vyoshenskaya) dedicated to the Day of Great Victory and the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov.

You will see an artistic and ethnographic composition “Offs to the State Service”, demonstration performance of the Cadet Corps students from Shakhti and the competitions of conscripts of the Sholokhov District, you will hear old Cossack songs performed by the group “Pravoslavny Don” (the Orthodox Don. Director G.Vechorkin), you will visit a field Cossack camp depicted in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov.

You will enjoy racing, horse jumping, fancy riding, sword and lance flanking, and the main methods of Cossack fighting performed by brave horsemen. Each holiday maker can show his skills in wielding a sword, a lance and a whip, in marksmanship and knife throwing. The winners will be awarded!

Besides, you can join master-classes, competitions, horse riding, taking photos, buying souvenirs and having tasty porridge from the field kitchen.
