We All Enjoyed Shrovetide Pancakes
14.03.2016Theatrical classes devoted to Shrovetide were held for local schoolchildren in the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House”. There are plenty of rites, traditions and customs connected with the holiday.
The children learned to know about Shrovetide traditions of the Upper Don, had a fun of circle dances together with the performers. The children learned and sang merry Shrovetide and spring songs.
The clowns made funny competitions for the children to compete in wit and skill.
The girls and boys made Shrovetide dolls.
The kind hosts of the makeshift kurens (Cossack houses) entertained all the guests with tasty pancakes.
And, of course, a special joy for the children was the appearance of Spring Beauty.
