News“Family Sundays” in “Sholokhov Centre”24.02.2016On February 21, “Sholokhov Centre” started a new project “Family Sundays” prepared jointly with the Committee on Youth Policy of the Rostov Region and the Don State Public Library. The first eight families came to the excursion and educational event from Bataisk, Kamensk-Shakhtinsk and the Azov, Bagayevsky and Aksai districts of the Rostov Region. The children and their parents began their “Family Sunday” with the exhibition “When You Can’t but Write…” devoted to the life and work of L.N.Tolstoy. With great interest the children observed the ABC, a phonograph, a typewriter, a “tolstovka” (a shirt of Tolstoy), dumbbells, chess and shoes made by Count Tolstoy himself. Meanwhile, the adults learned about the manuscripts of the novel “The War and Peace”, “Anna Karenina” and the testament of L.N.Tolstoy, and listened to the history of creation of “Sebastopol Stories” and about the mutual relations between the writer and his children. Following the excursion the children and their parents took part in the family master-classes and made souvenirs. Then the members of the master-class went to the “Literary Cafe”, where the specialists of the Don State Public Library told the children about the tale by E.T.A.Hoffmann “Nutcracker and Mouse King”, which marks this year the 200th anniversary of the first publication. The young readers tasted the Don herbal tea, learned about new children books and watched a cartoon based on the jubilee tale. The parents also learned about new books on the themes of pedagogics, fiction, psychology, journalism and cookery.
