“Sholokhov Centre” Welcomes to “Spring Ball”

04.03.2016

On March 13, “Sholokhov Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will hold a “Spring Ball”, which will bring its members into the atmosphere of the XIX century bright balls described by the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy in his works.

The ball is timed for the exhibition displayed now in “Sholokhov Centre”. It tells about the life and work of the writer and shows his studies in different years. The visitors can see the atmosphere of the house in Yasnaya Polyana, when the writer worked over his novels “The War and Peace”, “Anna Karenina” and a story “After the Ball” brightly describing the grand balls traditions of the XIX century.

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and Historical Club “The Gallant Age is a Wonderful Era” jointly with the Rostov College of Culture will give the lovers of literature and art an opportunity to remember the works by L.Tolstoy, to “turn” pages describing the events taking place during the ball and to act as heroes of his great books.

The “Spring Ball” of the time of Leo Tolstoy is going to be unforgettable. Ladies wearing evening dresses and gentlemen wearing classic suits will gather in “Sholokhov Centre”, which being a wonderful monument of the late XIX century is situated in the historic centre of Rostov-on-Don. Masters of ceremonies will remember about the rules and traditions of the balls, the music will sound and the dancing couples will gracefully move in a polonaise…

Then there will come a contrdance, a waltz, a polka, a cotillion changing each other, and the dancers will experience the same delight, which Natasha Rostova experienced at her first ball. During the intervals the guests will enjoy attractions usual of each ball – games of ball post, forfeits, charades, bouts-rimés.

The ball organizers believe that the guests will be in joyful mood and like the heroine of L.Tolstoy they will get to the highest level of happiness, when a person “becomes completely kind and good, and does not believe in the possibility of evil, unhappiness and sorrow.”
