The 95th Anniversary of I.I.Reznichenko

On February 10, it is the 95th anniversary of sculptor I.I.Reznichenko, who is known to be one of the authors of the sculptural design of the building façade of the Rostov State Circus.

Ivan Ivanovich Reznichenko was acquainted with M.A.Sholokhov. He made in plaster a sculptural figure “Mikhail Sholokhov”, which was displayed at the All-Union Art Exhibition of 1957, and a portrait composition “The Quiet Don”.

I.I.Reznichenko was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. He studied in the Rostov Art School, in the Kharkov Art Institute. From 1954 to 1967, he taught in the M.B.Grekov Rostov Art School, where he founded his school of young sculptors and was the soul of his pupils, and worked as sculptor in the Rostov Art Foundation.

The main theme in the work of I.I.Reznichenko was the Great Patriotic War. He created a series of memorial monuments “A Soldier”, “The Soldier’s Grief” and others. He also created a sculptural figure “A Grieving Miner” for the memorial “To the Victims of Fascism” in Shakhti.

Ivan Ivanovich Reznichenko died in 1994 leaving his wonderful works as a heritage for the future generations and memories of those who worked with him and learned from him.
