Young Confectioners in “Sholokhov-Centre”

21.01.2016

The enthralling “Christmas Stories” in “Sholokhov Centre” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov were happily joined by children and adults.

On January, 26, “Sholokhov-Centre” was visited by 40 children from Rostov kindergarten 108, “Lastochka” (swallow). Most of them visited the museum for the first time, and the children toured the exhibition with great interest.

A merry train took the boys and girls to the country of sweet chocolate. With great interest they learned about the origin of the well-known and favourite sweets and the birthplace of “chocolate tree”; they tasted the flavour of real cocoa beans and touched the outlandish fruit. The children were surprised to see candy wrappers as exhibits and that those wrappers could tell about different events, and that a chocolate wrapper could be very different and sometimes unusual.

A big chocolate bear weighing 5 kg caused a temptation in the young tourists to break off a piece of it, however the guide suggested them to become “chocolate kings” and make by themselves in a special laboratory a present of a real chocolate sweet for each under their own recipes.

The experiments in the “Chocolate Laboratory” were a success: the young confectioners invented their own methods of making sweets, and everyone could appreciate their flavour. All were ecstatic!

The teachers Svetlana Khliyan and Gayane Atobikyan noted that the interactive tours of this kind are very useful for development of children. The Guest Book reflected the visitors’ impressions: “Thank you very much for the tour! The children have got a lot of information about chocolate. The narration was very interesting and informative! The children greatly enjoyed making chocolate sweets. Great! We wish you a fruitful development!”
